Inducted 1 Nov 1991 Carl Soderbeck became a member of the St. Paul Ski Club in October of 1940. Throughout the remaining decades, he maintained his active membership. Soderbeck served numerous terms as a member of the St. Paul Ski Club Board of Directors. As a professional carpenter, Carl unselfishly volunteered his time and expertise toward uncounted ski club projects. Following his competitive career, Soderbeck’s lasting love of the sport was transferred to the youth of the St. Paul Ski Club junior programs. His interest in guiding and coaching young, up and coming athletes, assisted in maintaining a positive image of the sport by young competitors. On numerous occasions Soderbeck was the representative of the St. Paul Ski Club at junior functions and meetings conducted by the Central Division of the United States Ski Association. He logged countless miles throughout the Central Division - many times at his own expense - as he chaperoned members of the St. Paul Junior Club to tournaments. In 1990, Carl’s expertise in working with young skiers was recognized by the member clubs when he was named - “Central Division Coach of the Year”. Through many years of service, Soderbeck extensively utilized his talents in St. Paul Ski Club activities. His efforts and advice in guiding the youth of the St. Paul Junior Ski Club, will continue to prove invaluable for many years into the future.
